That seems so late for them to still hand paint, I believe what you said but I now have to wonder why they still were hand painting in the mid 70s. We need someone to help with the history

Worried about the Red Lion, Handsworth, and the Waterloo, Smethwick

I have seen all these old bars and bar backs for sale here in America for years, it became a thing to have a real English bar, but I never gave it much thought where all these bars came from and the loss of some of my heritage One of the faults of living in a country less than 300 years old.

    Birmingham buses

Please can a member contact me, I have questions related to restoration of a bus/buses. I have always had a love of buses those early ones sitting down stairs looking out the front window. Then the later bus when you had to go upstairs to sit up front to look out the window. I see buses for...

My answer here is not based on true knowledge of how early buses were painted, but Tekaloid paint is known as coach paint, Now when I say coach it also means coach work (body work) many vehicles were hand painted in the early years so I would assume the buses were hand painted, Back when I...

    Guided buses Tracline 65

This project seems to have been at least 20 years to soon, computing power was still in the dark ages, and all the tech that goes with that today Having made that statement I had no knowledge of a guided bus system ever being tried untill this thread

    Advertising on the bus

I thought the cost of the bus was paid by the school system, the strange thing it was only after school had finished for the day you had to walk to school, the ride was not free but is was cheap as I said most times there was only 3 or 4 kids on it, but the driver never hung around if you got...

What a cracking picture, already got a license plate, can not make out the route number on the bus behind. The driver looks like he should be on a old AJS or a Matchless.

    Paint code

It is for a road going vehicle but if I can not find a company here in the US that can supply the paint per code I would buy the model paints as samples and have them mail here, then have the paint made a a custom colour match or used for a wrap

    Paint code

I may well be buying from them and using the as samples here in the US. I won't actually be painting, I will in fact have the vehicle done with a wrap.

Thank you I will email and ask. As a side note looking at their website took me back 50+ years they show a Midland Red bus route number 144 the very bus that took me fishing to Worcester and the Malvern Hills. Then later to Bromsgrove Collage when my Royal Enfield was broken down.

    Guided buses Tracline 65

I am in complete agreement, the bus shown in the picture burnt good and hot in the middle, good enough to melt the structure and sheet metal, I wonder if it was loaded with test equipment. . Now I have not been on a bus in a very long time but as I recall they were in fact a little short on...

You can be sure those guys were looking forward to a hot cuppa some where. I recall going to Browns Lane the Jag factory in the 70s and Daimler limos coming out with no coach work it been so long ago I do not even recall how I knew they were DS 420's perhaps they had the front grill.

So call me crazy I am really thinking of painting a van to look like a bus in the blue and cream colours No one here (US) will get it as they will not recognize the look of a Brumie bus, and no one else will have that. So does any one have the paint codes for BCT

    Advertising on the bus

I love looking at all these old pics of both the buses and trams. One thing I enjoy are the adds looking to see if I know the product or store etc. This has made me think of what does/did it cost for a add. How much is this add revenue helped support the operating cost of the bus system. Then...
