    Warstone Lane Cemetery

So glad you have made contact wit the other family - with 2 lots looking after it now it should stay in good condition - Always remember though that there are many hundreds of others in there - could become crowded one day when they all finally come looking. Brin

    Mysterious manoeuvre ……

Until Coventry recently created their bus route - the Outer Circle was the longest! And the 'outer' Outer Circle "C" is 1 and 1/4 miles longer than the 'Inner' Outer Circle "A"

    Mysterious manoeuvre ……

Ah! I see it now! The school in in the distance on the right, It's the old chapel on the left - not the end of school as I thought! Schoolbu seems likely!

    Mysterious manoeuvre ……

Surely than you are looking down Harvey Road? The school has a long frontage along Church Road, such a small end on view must mean you are looking down Harvey with the bus turning from Moat Lane towards the Yew Tree island - possibly a 17 on it's way to town? Brian

    Mysterious manoeuvre ……

I cannot place where in Church road that is supposed to be - travelled on the 15 from Whittington Oval to town for 10 years. Yardley church is distant left, but the flats on the right look like those by the Yew Tree almost looks like it should be Yew tree Lane or Moat lane? Didn't the 17 turn...

Reinterment at Warstone Lane Cemetery from St. Thomas' Church, 1953

Mary in the T.I. in Vyse st has the disk. Another copy was in Pen room, but suspect it has been passed onto a local group. The full printed version should be available for viewing in the Pen Museum. I'm sure there are block entries for various churches - St mary,s St Thomas's, St Bartholemws...

Reinterment at Warstone Lane Cemetery from St. Thomas' Church, 1953

Wendy, I lost much of my files, when my PC died, but many of the reburials in WL are under the former Churc h name - e.g. St Thomas's X number of coffins - without the personal names - unsure if this is the case here Banri

    Warstone Lane Cemetery

Hi Pol - Not a clue! I though it was for beaches that had no Dog mess or floating sewage! There is plenty of both in the JQ area! Maybe members of the Friends/JQRG may be able to answer - if they responded, that is! Too busy at present to visit cemeteries - need to hunt down my missing Rellie's...

    Warstone Lane Cemetery

Whilst I was away, they copied me into an email saying they were going for a "Green Flag" award for KH/WL Cemeteries and were looking for active volunteers from Friends, Residents and local History/Research groups. Doubt if they ever git any physical help from any of the but it's possible some...

Great news Lyn - You do have tell them about the Public Works pics - some of the staff there last year did not know about them themselves!

One of a set of about a dozen mostly dated 1953 held in the Library. As you say the Index cards are often a waste of time - have searched for St Micheals, Mint cemetery, WL Cemetery, cemeteries, etc - Never thought to look under P until I was told, and than they are not in the card index under...

Great pic Bernie, taken in 1953 from approxiamtely the site of the bomb that landed in the Cemetery. It took years to find this pic (with others). The Library kept saying they had none of Warstone Lane Cemetery, until one day an ex Librarian said that they did - but they were filed under P - for...

He was a real nice old gent Lynne. Pity I hadn't more time to stop & chat. I asume his daughter is co-owner with her husband - the one who does the washing machine side of things? It was good of you to get the pics down and photographed. My eldest brother worked there on saturdays when we lived...

Hi Lynne, Popped into Harry Smiths yesterday and chatted to an eldery gent - Mr Smith! He is the father of Amanda who currently works there, and who you presumably chatted to. He was saying he was one of the last Smith directors of Smith & Pepper - now the Museum of the Jewellery Quarter It...

Winson Green / All Saints Asylum

One of my colleagues is a Warder at Winson Green - he is now off the Wings and in the office receiving new clients, etc - based in the remains of All Saints! He does the trip every day between the two - Think he prefers the Prison rather than the paperwork!

    Snow Hill Station

It's not looking too bad for modern construction. Just wish they'd finish the bottom of Snow Hill though! Had my first trip Snow Hill - Marylebone last Weds. Made a change from going NS-Euston (though I came back that way for speed!) How Bordesley has changed!! and nice to pass right by Wembly...
