    White Horse pub William Street

Ref Post #1 .... this aerial photo of Five Ways dated 1 April 1969 shows a section of William Street in the top right. Much of the area had been cleared for redevelopment, but I think the indicated building is (or was) the White Horse.

    Artists Who Painted Birmingham Landscapes

I don't think this view of "Yardley Wood Dingles" by the artist J Jolly has appeared in this thread yet.

    Percy Road Greet

The shop is at 68 Percy Road, Greet. The 1921 Kelly's Directory lists it as William Grant greengrocer .... and the photo was posted on FB by his great granddaughter. N.B. The Greet Primary School site was extended down Percy Road a few decades ago to cover the shop location. The shop is shown in...

Pardoe Family - Ward End Birmingham

I also have a family tree connection to Pardoes in Ludlow in the 18th century. Samuel Pardoe born c1795 and Martha Richards born c1795 are my great great great grandparents. Their daughter Mary was born in Ludlow c1823 and moved to Birmingham in the 1840s. Successive generations remained in...

    Birmingham Collections Website

Morturn : I have a family tree link to Pardoes in Goalford, St Lawrence, Ludlow. The 1841 census shows Samuel Pardoe born c1795 and his wife Martha born c1795, and their 8 children living in Goalford. It may have been a common surname in that area, but is there any connection to your Pardoes?

    David Bowie in Birmingham

It's hard to believe, but authoritative Bowie fan sites say that David Bowie and the Riot Squad played at the Charde Guest House on Mackadown Lane, Kitts Green on 26 April 1967. The guest house still appears to be there with the same name. Has anyone heard about this gig? Or maybe DB and the...

Moseley Tea & Honey Shop ?

Well spotted Pedro .... it appears to be a wrongly labelled photo, but it prompted an interesting thread. And Rednal is still within the scope of the Forum. Viv: there was no identifiable theme to the 5 or 6 photos on the pub wall .... except that they are all (supposed to be) in Moseley.

Moseley Tea & Honey Shop ?

I noticed this photo yesterday on the wall in the back room of the Trafalgar (now Patrick Kavanagh) pub in Woodbridge Road, Moseley. Does anyone know whereabouts in Moseley this shop was located? EDIT: Location identified by Pedro as Fern Cottage in Rednal.

    Bull Street

The photo is one of the James Burgoyne set taken to record views before the construction of Corporation Street, dated c1875. It's description in the Birmingham Library archive is "Garden at rear of 93 Bull Street, Birmingham" .... which is the old Barrow's Store location (on the west side of...
