That's just reminded me that my Mom worked in that department for a while! They were given a template of where the ball should be to place over each entry and I think they then put those very close to one side so someone else would then do a finer check to decide the winners!

There is some writing on the lower part of the building to the left but I can’t quite read it! I guess the position was the corner of John Bright Street at the end of Lower Severn Street, I think the damaged building on the right must have been repaired as it looks very similar to today's view..
