Just think of it this way: someone has been paying for those empty apartments for two years, carrying the insurance (I hope) maintenance, heating etc. sounds like a government funded deal to me and the person build at the dirt track knows something we don’t or is very foolish!
Lyn, you are absolutely right! It seems like the inmates are running the asylum as far as housing development is concerned. Is the housing government funded or privately funded?
Pedro, the terms theoretical and fact sheet seem to be at odds. And then right out of the box the first so called fact is not correct about connecting anything north of Birmingham with HS2!
That is very sad that the archeologists are acting so unprofessionally especially with the use of public funds. I would be looking to those managing (if they really are) the funding to explain why the public whose funds are being used are denied access to their history!
What a massive undertaking it was back in 1767 to build these canals, without mechanization, all, for the most part manual labor. Certainly over 220 years ago this was at least equivalent to HS2.
Absolutely, as we say, “scope creep” and over promise and under delivering are the project killers.
As a good friend would say: a committee never sank a putt! There are too many committees with very little value add!
I think the bigger issue when is the Birmingham to London section going to open? There are four years away from the early date and eight from the later date. If it runs later the cost will increase accordingly! That’s what happens as projects extend, so does the cost! As does the cost to operate!
The problem Pete is that you can tear them a new one but you won’t win! Insurance companies and their actuaries (who they pay a lot of money) always win the day! There is no loyalty with insurance companies regardless, we are with one company for over 40 years and at one point had three houses...
