    Windows 10

You can install W11 on old machines if your prepared to do some registry edits et al and I have do just to see if I could do it. That said there's no real benefit and it won't run faster than W10. I remember reading an interview with Alan Solomon who launched Dr Solomon's antivirus in the 90s...

    Windows 10

Apple machines without doubt are stylish to look at and can perform very well but they are very very expensive and you can't work on them plus the intel i9 outperforms the Apple M1 cpu for a lot less of your hard earned dosh.

    Windows 10

Touch wood (touches head) W11 has been pretty much plug and play. I use Whatsapp, teams and zoom and had no issues to date apart from my phone ringing at 05:30 for a whatsapp vid call from my nine year old granddaughter who'd woken up and fancied a chat and mommy and daddy were asleep so she...

Tried peat free compost...

    Windows 10

I mess around a bit with Linux, run ham radio software through it on an old i5 Thinkpad and it works fine but Windows is my daily OS of choice. I'm leaving W10 on my main PC but W11 is running fine on some others. I've installed W11 on a couple of older PCs just to see if they run, they do.

Good evening all, I've not been here in a while, stupid things like having covid and other stuff has kept me busy but I'm back on track ;) I've got a lot of 'treasure' in boxes that I'm going to sort through and get rid of including early computers/PCs/consoles. My daughter is not...

    Windows 10

Talking of Windows, I was having a clear out over the weekend and came across an old laptop running XP. The battery is shot but the machine works fine and because all the software on it is simple by W10/11 standards it runs very fast. I've loaded ham radio software on it (much written for XP)...

    Scams: telephone, email, texts 2022

Computer generates phone numbers and dials then if you answer you get the "push to speak to...." and they transfer you to scam central. When you pick up to a dead line your number is marked as active and passed to the scam team. Three things I use for security and touch wood have not had a...
