Thank you all so much for the information on Watery Lane. My mother was born there but didn't talk about it much. I wasn't sure whether it was in Aston/Deritend/Boardsley or Small Heath. I'm afraid I don't know that side of the city at all. I believe that some of Watery Lane is still there...
Does anyone know anything about Watery Lane, Aston. I know all the back to backs have gone but I wondered if anyone had any old photos. Various members of my families lived there for about 80 years.
Thank you for any help you can give.

We had a Meschasmidt (sorry about the spelling) in 1959, with a perpex hood that you had to lift over to get in and out. Worth a lot of money now in good condition. We went all over the place in that little car until the hood got cracked.

My Gt.Grandfather was Henry Blackham. His five daughters were all French Polishers and his son an upholsterer. I've got them in this occupation until census 1891 after which most of the girls except one married.
In 1937 when my parents married they bought their furniture at cost through a...
re: victorian photos
I've really enjoyed scrolling through this thread and looking at your photos. When I watch auction programmes and see people selling their albums because their children arn't interested!! - which I find sad because they may well be when they are older.
re: cadbury film
Hi,
Many thanks to Wendy for posting the connection for the film. I really enjoyed it. Do Cadbury's have an archieve site. I would like to find out what my grandmother did for a job there. Also my grandfather was a football referee and I wonder if it was for the Cadbury...
re: Duggie Blackham
Hi Postie,
I don't know if there is any connection with Duggie Blackham. My Blackham family go back along way in Birmingham but I haven't done anything on family after the 1901 census apart from my immediate family. I'm waiting like everybody else for the 1911 census. They...
Re: Cadbury programme on ITV
Dear All,
The programme 'The Way We Were' wasn't on ITV in London. I and my family would have loved to see it as we have a strong connection with Cadbury's. If anyone does know of a recording please let me know.

re Cadbury's
Hi Sakura,
Thanks for your e-mail. My grandparents names were Alfred Blackham who died about 1946 - the chocolate grinder and Amy Blackham nee Bray who left in 1908 when they got married - as you know married women didn't work in those days.
Regards,
Sheri
re: cadbury's
Hi Sukura,
Thanks for your message and the new photos. I didn't know your names. My grandfather died in 1947 a year after he retired and I was a very little girl. They lived in Mulberry Road. I think the single decker bus ran along Linden Rd. Was the middle photo of the school...
re: photos Bournville
Thanks to Sakura for posting the photos. It's interesting to see everybodies memories - mine go back many years when my grandparents lived there.

re: cadbury memories
Nice to read other people's memories of Bourneville. I have my grandparents Bible that they were given by Cadbury's when they got married in 1908. My father went to school in the one opposite the green - don't know it's name but I'm sure some of you will.
Are they really...
re: addition to cadbury thread
My grandfather worked at Cadbury's for 40 years as a chocolate grinder. I think he met my Nan there - they lived in a trust house in Bourneville. They had a little green card which entitled them to buy misshapes - I can remember going with my Nan to get them. We...
