    Saint Mary's church Warwick

Pedrocut, the painting was painted from a pic the buyer provided which she had taken herself, although I have seen the church myself a few times (not in the rain though). The building on the left is a Post Office which in hindsight I think is slightly intrusive but the buyer was happy and...

I'm a great admirer of the Impressionist movement who painted en plein air. Just noticed I am way of thread, my apologies, when art is the subject I get carried away ! Eric

    Elmdon Airport Birmingham International Airport

Thanks Neville for correcting my error, probably the photo angle made it look wrong. Incidentally the B707 was the first a/c my late Wife flew on when we went to Malta in the late 70's. Eric

    Elmdon Airport Birmingham International Airport

I completed my RAF basic training at Cardington where the R101 was based, it's hanger is enormous both in area and height, we used to run round it and 4 laps was a mile. Re above post #652, I do not think that's Birmingham airport, the building is more symmetrical than that, could be wrong of...

Telephone history: Telephone Service in Birmingham

Yes Pedrocut, 81's are small round nosed pliers, part of my tool kit I received in 1956, I had to hand all my tools in when I left BT in 1987, I did keep my watch makers eye glass (still have it) and they let me keep my ladders, my van was kept at home because I was on emergency call out, so...

dilly, they did have a place in Bath, probably under a different name because I was kept on another week to take the unsold stock there after the closing down sale, I drove 2 or 3 journeys down there, each time they overloaded the van making driving difficult which I was not very happy with...

Telephone history: Telephone Service in Birmingham

I remember my early days as a PO Engineer (late 50's) removing candlestick 'phones and fitting the more modern replacement, disposing of the candle stick. I should have kept a few, collectors are now paying ridiculous prices for them. Eric
