    Emigration from Birmingham

Two of my much older cousins married each other and emigrated to Victoria, Australia in the 1960s with 3 of their siblings. I don't how much contact they had with their siblings who remained. She returned at least once, in the late 1980s I'd guess, and I have a photo of her at my aunt's house...

Look at maps before your house was built? If it's in Bham suburbs then possibly farm land.

Is it the 1980s? Looks like an advert for the iPhone 4 next door.

    Emigration from Birmingham

I wonder how much, if any, contact there was between those who went and those stayed afterwards. I suppose in some cases they never saw or heard from each other again. I was surprised to find out that my g g grandmother went to America a couple of times with her third husband to visit his...

    Emigration from Birmingham

A bit of an old thread. Virtually all of us must have relatives, both close and distant, who have emigrated from Birmingham to far off places - historically Australia, US and Canada probably being the most obvious destinations. Though not particularly early, the earliest I have is the 1830s and...

The information I've found on the 1921 census has been interesting but I miss the days when something you uncovered was truly exciting - new names, new places, new family. And doing other people's trees is also interesting but it's not the same.

    Kingston cinema 2 mar 1963

There's a listing in Bham Mail on the 28th Feb which happened to be free to view on findmypast. That's where I got the above though it's not totally clear.

The cinema listings should be in the newspapers of the time, which are available on some ancestry sites.

Judging by some of the hints Ancestry give you, I wouldn't have much faith in their incorrect dates feature.

I assume you know that George Chiswell died in Stafford and 3 of his sons married there.

    Great Hampton & Upper Hospital

As you say it seems possible that she died in the pub and the other Elizabeth just happened to be present. I see her husband was listed as a soldier and coincidence or not William Winkles appears to have previously been a soldier.

On Ancestry they seem to be listed as Tomson.

And in reference to your other thread and the info Mike has posted - there were just 4 houses between Elizabeth and a William Winkles.

That was from findmypast. She is there with a Henry, Reuben & Maria. All there birthplaces are listed as outside county. Not much to go on and this is complete speculation but she may have been Henry's second wife. There are a Reuben and an Ann Maria Panton of the right ages baptised in...
