Joseph Taylor, 8 Cranby Street Birmingham

The 1939 Register shows that most of the children of Joseph & Frances still live close to their parents (not unusual). Maps below show the Saltley area with some residence marked - pink, Joseph, Frances & Joan (7 Cranby St) - green, Violet Hannah (9/26 Cranby St) - purple, Frances Sarah (108...

Joseph Taylor, 8 Cranby Street Birmingham

Joseph Taylor appears to have been born in 1873, the son of a Joseph Taylor and a Sarah Fenn. He possibly had as many as 4 brothers and 7 sisters. On the baptism of at least one son he was listed as a blacksmith. I think his death was reg. Jun qtr 1949.

Joseph Taylor, 8 Cranby Street Birmingham

Frances Sarah Cutler's parents - William Cutler & Frances Coley were both born in Bham but got married in Hackney on Christmas Day 1876. He lists his father's name as Thomas but he appears to William's grandfather and he was actually the illegitimate son of one of Thomas' daughters.

Joseph Taylor, 8 Cranby Street Birmingham

I can have a bit more of a general look but it might be better if say what you'd like to know. One thing, his first wife was Emma Carr, not Sarah as I said above. They married 15 Nov 1897. Emma died in late 1900, as did her new born son Joseph.

Joseph Taylor, 8 Cranby Street Birmingham

Listed at no. 7 on ERs and 1939 Register. First wife was Sarah Carr, second wife was Frances Sarah Cutler. There are other children than the ones you've mentioned. Not sure if there's a connection but the were betting offices called Cutler I think.

Military Cross & Military Medal holders of Birmingham

This man popped up in a family tree I was doing and appears to have been an interesting person. Born in British Guyana, a long career in medicine in Bham and lived in Edgbaston. He appears to have had no children of his own, though had an adopted daughter and step children. He was also knighted...

I like how it says linking Birmingham to Warwickshire as if there's a large river or something between them instead of them being right next to each other.

    Curzon Street Railway Station

Always interesting. Had to pause it a couple of times just to get my bearings, too many different viaduct names. It would be nice to have a drone fly along the route from Curzon St to Water Orton to get a sense of the progress. I would also have liked to know if they are on schedule, especially...

    Witton Cemetery

When driving around Witton Cemetery there are several fairly large areas where there are no gravestones. Would these areas be old common graves or areas where bodies transferred from other cemeteries have been re-buried?

My mistake. Think about it, it shouldn't be Elsie who is blanked out because she was born over 100 years ago. It could be but it shouldn't be. And it isn't because she married Robert Charles Phillips in 1928 and is living on Rodlington Avenue in 1939. There's also a blanked out entry with her...
