    Katharine Menke later Lady Woolley

Carl Theodore appears to have come to England prior to 1881 and must have returned to Germany to marry. On the 1881 census he is living at 28 Gough Road, Edgbaston with a house keeper, listed as Theodore a metal merchant.

find my past records free until the 11th nov

To report an error to findmypast you do it from the transcript page. So you need to be able to see it and to that for the 1921 census you would need a subscription unless they have another free weekend and it's included, in which case you would only need to be registered.

find my past records free until the 11th nov

My first real look at the 1921 census records but not many surprises. I did find that my great grandfather was in the Defence Force at Radford Aerodrome which was a surprise, as when he enlisted in 1914 he was discharged after just 31 days. I knew he wasn't with his family but had thought that...

    Katharine Menke later Lady Woolley

It's difficult to be certain that the American death is his. As mentioned the newspaper reported him being alive in Hamburg in 1928 but there's no guarantee that is correct. There is a marriage for Frederick W Menke to a Marjory G Waddington registered in Hampstead district in 1927 and a...

    Katharine Menke later Lady Woolley

In 1928 Carl (last German Consul) appears to be mentioned in passing in the Bham Daily Post, that he was interred for the whole of the war and afterwards returned to Germany and was at that time residing in Hamburg.

    Katharine Menke later Lady Woolley

In 1916 Carl was in the newspapers accused of trading with the enemy. And in 1914 Carl, Marie and Frederick are mentioned in regards the setting up a company at 154 Great Charles St, the same address being mentioned in the 1916 articles.

    Katharine Menke later Lady Woolley

You may already know this but... Carl Theodore Menke married Marie Wilhelmine Ehni in Stuttgart 21 Mar 1887. Marie was born in Stuttgart 15 Nov 1867, the daughter of Johann Georg Ehni and Marie Sutorius. Carl was possibly the son of Carl Menke and Katherine Wolf. Frederick William Menke was...

    MORRIS, Clara

In 1921 Clara appears to be listed as a widow and I wonder if she listed George in error. There are possible deaths and burials at Witton for George (1918) and Clara (1935) but Morris is too common to be certain.

    MORRIS, Clara

Clara and Henry appear to be the children of a John and Hannah Blake. Not sure if it's just coincidence or something more but Hannah's maiden name was Morris.

    MORRIS, Clara

On the 1921 census there appears to be a Clara Morris listed at 29 Ashted Row with a George Blank. Not sure if Blank is his name or if it's there because there's no name listed.

    MORRIS, Clara

The service records (attestation 1902) for the possible Samuel Morris appear to be on findmypast, can't see them on Ancestry. He also had a brother who also seems to have been reg. as Samuel but is listed as Solomon in 1891 and he is mentioned in the Walsall Advertiser - robbery. Can't see the...

    MORRIS, Clara

Samuel is possibly a boarder in Walsall in 1901. Emily is possibly in Kidderminster in 1901, listed as a Tramp and coincidentally she may be in Essex in 1911, an inmate of Dr Barnardo's.

    MORRIS, Clara

There is also possibly an attestation for the militia in the Essex Regiment 1902/3, which would tie in with his enlistment date on the pension record above.

    MORRIS, Clara

There is a Samuel Morris reg. Walsall Jun qtr 1882, son of a George Morris and a Clara Blake (?). He had a sister, Emily b1891. They are very elusive, they are on the 1891 census in Walsall listed as Monis (findmypast) but that's all I can see, no other census, no marriage for George and Clara.

    Starkey family

You could search the newspapers, you might find something in them if your lucky though usually most people only appear when they done something wrong. There are quite a few mentions but no idea if any of them are yours. Theophilus's father was possibly in the army, there's a listing on the 1815...
