In regards the family tree, I'd guess that they've seen the maiden name as Dayus for Lillian and came up with Fanny, adding Gertrude to make it 'correct'. If it's the Fanny Dayus of Staffordshire, she marries a Benjamin Colley in 1924, death reg. in Bham 1977.

Do you mean Joseph (son)? He was reg. as Falloons/Harris. Edna May Gardiner's maiden name appears to be Harris and she may have been the illegitimate daughter of Gertrude. She doesn't seem to be on the 1921 census either which again suggests that they may have deliberately avoided it...
