    Unsafe Headstones

Still doing it as of last year at our local church yard here in Cornwall. To be fair there were a few dating back to the 1800's that were on the verge of falling over and those were the days of the extremely large headstones.

    A Certain Train Of Thought

Thanks for the heads up, added a bit about our local railway. Problem is that I only read your post and didn't see that it was a railways thread, still sorted now even though nothing to do with Birmingham :(

    A Certain Train Of Thought

We lived in Durham for ten years in the seventies/eighties, Ushaw moor and South crescent, north end. We really enjoyed our time there bringing up our children but were warned that colds and infections would be the norm until we all became acclimatised, boy was the Doctor right. Our weekly...

    What Car Is This

Sad story of running boards. My cousin had a Morris eight with running boards and he offered to take my Mother, Sister and myself for a ride. Everyone in the car except me so I ran up and jumped on the running board which immediately fell off, Cousin not best pleased and no more offers of a ride.

    Tv Sub-titles

First thing my daughter does when entering the lounge is to turn down the sound on the TV. Having tinitous doesn't help but I think I've not got a problem :(. I found many years ago that when other people spoke at the same time, especially in a crowded pub, I just hoped I'd nodded along where I...

    Police vehicle patrols

Had a friend that drove the traffic cars that covered Coleshill, many the time he drove past in his Jaguar with the radio blasting the music out through the loudspeaker on the duel carriageway by hilltop garage.

    Police vehicle patrols

May have told this story before, if so sorry. Back in 1967 I spent a few months private hire driving, after picking up a car load of boisterous drunk lads I was driving along the Aldridge road when a panda car pulled me over obviously suspecting I was as drunk as the lads in the car who had...

    Police vehicle patrols

Maybe going off thread a bit but we had a velocette patrol policeman visit us during the night at Stockland Green, this would have been mid sixties. The only concern he had whilst taking his well earned break was the duty Sergeant who checked up during the night, no radios in those days :)

    Rover Sd1

Bought one secondhand early eighties, what a lemon I must have had rose tinted glasses when I looked round it, even blew the head gasket on the M5 going down to South Devon on holiday and had to be AA relayed back home to Durham.

    The School Bully

Unfortunately he had his favourites until the head girl became pregnant which upset him considerably. I can remember him standing up behind his lectern berating the poor girl for her loose morals in front of the whole school. I was friends with a lad that used to repair his car for him...

    Care Homes

My Daughter works for our local council auditing service providers which includes care and nursing homes where the council provide the funding. You wouldn't believe some of the atrocious standards of care she has come across which sometimes results in the homes being closed down. Shame we...

    Perry Beeches Secondary School

The Forum was hacked a few years ago and many of the photo's were removed. Usually when you see "view attachment " the photo was removed by the hacker. The Forum mods and some members are trying to replace many of these missing photos but some of the original posters are no longer members.

Did you meet your partner In Brum?

Unfortunately have to say that Colin passed away today. An extremely brave man who would always offer help when needed.

    Gravelly Lane Erdington

Think I used a cafe on Gravelly lane back in the late sixties, not sure where though.

    I-spy Books

I used to go train spotting whenever we visited my Mothers family in Manchester and always ended up with my own I spy train spotters book, never bothered when at home so books not very full :(

Peaky Blinders - A world away from Downton!

I'm not a prude but I honestly believe that the amount of adult entertainment shown last night was unnecessary and is often due to a weak script.

Afro-caribbean Shops, Restaurants And Clubs - Old And New

I remember the Bird cage on Lichfield road junction with Slade road, would have been early sixties.
