    Snow Hill Station

Thanks pmc1947, those photos do bring back memories. I had almost forgotten what the main entrance where the coaches are, looked like. Oh! the luxury of being able to get a cup of tea to take on the train, my dad always had to have one and a newspaper.Mo

    Doctors

I just wish I could get a doctor with the bed side manner, (even though they don't do house calls today) that they used to have. Times certainly have changed for the worst as far as I'm concerned. I know they are busy but a kind word goes a long way. We always had a long wait but our doctors...

    Local Bus Videos

Love the one with the buses, I will be back to see the others. Better than some of our TV programs. But I guess that is another subject. I saved a YouTube video to my desk top and then downloaded it onto a thread if that is what you are asking Frothblower. I was surprised it worked, I didn't...

    Queslet Road Great Barr

Family friends called Hyslop, I think the spelling is right, owned the garage and lived on Uplands Road next door to us for many years. I doubt whether their children still own it or whether it is still there, they were very nice people.:) MO

    Fairlanes bowling alley.

We loved it. We went to the one by the Albion Football grounds and all the players came i to play. They were a great team in the 60's and sharp looking with their college boy hair cuts and very neat clothing. :) Mo

    Comparing gasoline prices

Jenny - our gas was $1.21 yesterday so we are still a little behind you but I haven't seen the prices today yet. Rupert - I tried the refill cartridges at Christmas and I was so disappointed with them, I took a hard copy of something and went back and complained. They gave me my money back and...

    Comparing gasoline prices

Bernie - The US and Canadian dollars are on par with in one cent at the moment. I believe that would be a US gallon. It was just food for thought. :) Mo

    Comparing gasoline prices

This is just for fun, I thought you might enjoy the comparison of every day things and gasoline. I know the cost of petrol in the UK is very high but it has gone up to $1.21 a litre here which folks are not used to.:)Mo Trying to find something funny in the absurdity of...

Lucas Shaftmoor Lane Branch Works 3

My father Arthur Wigley was there at that time but I'm not sure which department. I think he retired in 1968/69. I know it was a big place but you may have known him. My Uncle Bill Harley was still there then as well.:)M

    One favourite fact about Birmingham

Yes we did that in the same pond and kept them in the garden until we had frogs at which time they would jump out of the dish they were in. :)Mo

    One favourite fact about Birmingham

Our memories from our childhood are so different to those of when we are grown up. We used the go catching tiddlers in a pond behind the Oxhill Road cemetery. After the corn was cut in the fields we would build dens in the hay. Great fun on a warm summers day. :)Mo

    One favourite fact about Birmingham

My grand parents on Williams Street had an air raid shelter. As a child my nan had the largest blackberries I have ever seen, growing over it. Behind that was the only lavatory she had which was at the top of the garden, but she had her own and didn't have to share it. It was surrounded by...

    Over Crowded, Nah, Just Cosy

Great picture. Our wooden pulley drier was over the gas stove in our small kitchen on wet days. It would be ironed and then put on the clothes horse to finish airing, out side if the sun was shining. We were lucky we had a nice garden. I remember having ice on the inside of the windows in the...

    One favourite fact about Birmingham

I think an important part of Birmingham is the many old buildings that have been preserved and hopefully future generations will value them. When we were there in 2005 I was pleased to see the green old public toilets that I remember still standing in the Jewelery Quarter, something you don't...
