That is a pity, hope your thread gets on when you find Wills bike in the shed. That would be quite a find. Maybe no one has looked in there for the last 40 years. Maybe the thread was moved, what was it called? Well good luck with your search and look forward to seeing the photographs. Mo

    Tea

Will - Did you know the Ladywood Brookfield Youth Club? I'm not sure when it opened, I was there as a leader around 1966/67. The local police were very supportive of what we did. The full time leader was called Dave I think. Mo

    Tea

When I was 23 I was a youth leader at Ladywood Brookfield Boys Club. I was the first female leader they ever had so of course I felt I had to clean the snack bar. The tea pot which was huge was disgusting as you can imagine so that was my first project. It looked quite good after a clean inside...

    Tea

We never had a fridge. We got our first one in about 1965 and that was a used one. We had milk delivered every day so it wasn't issue. When I got married in 1968 we bought a fridge as soon as we could afford one. Mo

    Tea

Hanco I think you are right the water makes the difference. Our Aunt lives 40 min north of us and is on well water. I just hate the tea made with it. As she has had a problem with the well she now gets water from the spring a little way west or uses bottle water, much better. I think we had...

    Birmingham weddings of the past

Your Mom's list is so interesting Wendy but that would have been a lot of money in 1940. It must have been fascinating finding all that information. What a pity we didn't all do that when we got married or even if we did make sure we kept it in a safe place. Great thread Wendy. Mo

    Birmingham weddings of the past

David that is priceless and I so enjoyed it. Maybe you are right about expensive weddings Chris, we have been married 40 years this year and ours wasn't expensive. We got married at St Andrews and had the reception at the New Inns. Wish I could remember how much it was but we paid for it...

    Snow Hill Station

We live near to the main rail line and I love watching the trains even today. They redid the road and put up a sound barrier so I can't see them on my regular walk now. We can just walk up the road and stand on the bridge if we want to though. If I go into the city I always go on the train if...

That is lovely Alf. We used to cycle to Perry Hall Park and sit on the bridge over the track, train spotting. The train drivers would sound their horns when we waved to them. Mo

    Chinese Restaurants

The one we went to on Barwick Street I'm sure we went down stairs. We used to joke as there were pigeons usually sitting above the door and if they weren't there we wondered what we had in our meals. It is the only Chinese restaurant I went to in Birmingham. That would have been around 1962...

    Chinese Restaurants

We used to go to a Chines Restaurant just across from Snow Hill Station. We went just down Livery Street and the first street on the left. I think as someone else said Chinese food tastes different today, I think it has become Westernized that is why. I agree it does taste different unless you...

    PUBS OF MY CHILDHOOD

This was the pub of my childhood. My dad and mom were members of the bowling club, so the children of the members spent many hours a week playing in the grounds while they played bowls. It was great, certainly a simpler way of life than today.:)Mo The Uplands, Oxhill Road, Handsworth.

Where is this 2007- 2008 queries

Could it be the Handsworth Branch. But I can't remember what road it was on. Although looking at the houses it could be Harbourne. So I will go for Harbourne. Mo
