You are a star! Thank you so much! You may well have helped break down a 5 year brick wall in my paternal tree for me.

Nechell Park Road - Eliza Poole nee Allen

After a lot more research and using DNA matches, I have a DNA connection to a descendant of an Allen family that originated in Hartlebury, Worcestershire. Long story short, John Allen, who I'm inclined to think is Eliza's father, was a 'publican' at the age of 40 according to the 1871 census. He...

    Allen Family Birmingham

Hi! I am trying to find an Allen family for my 2 x great grandmother, Eliza Allen (1852/3-1895) who married a brass caster, Abraham Poole in 1872. They lived at 22 Nechells Park Road. Eliza died at 42 years old. Abraham went on to marry a Julia Elizabeth Harris who hailed from Canning Town. Do...

Nechell Park Road - Eliza Poole nee Allen

Yes - I've seen that. No clues on the witnesses apart from an Emily Poole who was related to Abraham. I may have to order the marriage certificate to find out if Georgina was a spinster or widow. 'Our Eliza' is costing me a small fortune! Ha ha!

Nechell Park Road - Eliza Poole nee Allen

I am seeking family descendants or any information about Abraham POOLE (1847-1924) and Eliza ALLEN (1853-1895) to help me break down a brick wall. They are my 2 x great grandparents. I have been trying to proceed with Eliza's ascendants but, with so many Eliza Allens purportedly born in...

    Woodcock Street Duddeston

I have a a birth certificate from 1852 for an Eliza Allen born at 68 Woodcock Street, Duddeston. It appears that the mother was unmarried. Does anyone know if this street at that time had any homes/workhouses in that location, please?

    Canal Street, Aston

Thank you for this info as it has confirmed a resource relating to my 3 x great grandparents. In 1816 a child of theirs was baptised in St. Phillip's and their abode was recorded as Canal Street. In 1827, other children were baptised at St. Phillip's but their abode was then recorded as...

    Canals of Birmingham

Thank you for this info but it is to do with a baptism of a 3 x great aunt who was baptised in St Phillip's, Birmingham on 25 November 1816. The record states that she was born on 1 November 1816 and lived in Canal Street and I wondered where Canal Street would have been located.

    Balmoral Road Erdington

Thank you. I have now found the road on the 1923 Electoral Register with no inhabitants but 5 in 1924 so presuming it was built in 1923.

    Metro Cammell

Hi Dave! Thank you for this info. I have emailed the Birmingham Library, as I believe they have an archived section for Metro-Cammell, and asked if they are able to match it with anything they hold. Other than that, I am at a loss as to what it relates to. My Dad also worked at MC in the 60's...

    Metro Cammell

My cousin in South Africa has recently come across the coin/medal attached which belonged to our grandfather. Is there anyone on here able to tell me if this was issued by MC? We are thinking it may be a medal for some shooting club but is it one to do with MC. Any suggestions out there would be...

    Steel Toy Maker

My great grandfather was a steel toy maker. Would this have been a reserved occupation during WW1? I know steel workers were but was this occupation included?

    Birmingham TB patients

My great grandfather was born and lived with his family in Nechells from 1878 until 1924. In 1924, he contracted TB (he died of this in 1926-confirmed by his death certificate)as the family went to live in Malvern. I have been trying to ascertain which hospital he may have been sent to (again -...

    Metro Cammell Saltley

My dad worked for Metro Cammell for 20 odd years until he was made redundant in the 80's. I have this legacy on my garden shed door.
