    George Horton of Bordesley Green

I was hoping for him to have grandchildren I guess. I don't think I'd give them to great nephews/nieces especially if there are several and it's not clear which one. I suspect the two ladies were friends. Strange to give / lend the medals as she still had living children nearby I think? Or am I...

    George Horton of Bordesley Green

I just realised something. They were found at 27 Daniels Road, not 32. My relatives were the Bennetts, who were living there from the 60s I think, and there was at least one occupant in between.

Burial of someone who committed suicide

Hi I worked at one of the Magnificent 7 Cemeteries in London. In the 1920s i don't believe anyone who ended their own life would be refused burial in a public cemetery, and would be recorded in the normal way. 'Unconsecrated ground' just means 'Not C of E section'. Their grave may have been...

A maternity home in Acocks Green

My mom was born in 1941 during an air raid in the basement of a small private nursing home in Acocks Green (described as 'a house' - it had a piano!). Does anyone know where it might have been?

    George Horton of Bordesley Green

Ooh I'm excited that people are interested! I will post a photo now and some more later today. I'd absolutely love to get these medals back to the family. They weren't discarded or sold, but hidden, so someone valued them a lot.

    George Horton of Bordesley Green

I have the box and it has his medals from the Boer War and WW1. When it was found there was no internet so it was impossible to trace him, now I've inherited it so doing some research.

    Holy Trinity Church Bordesley.

This is much later but my grandad was the organist. His name was George Bennett. The family lived in Bedford Road at the back of the church from before WW1, in a house facing the railway arches. His dad worked at the gasworks. He learned to play the organ because he used to be the bellows boy...

    George Horton of Bordesley Green

Years ago a relative moved into a house in Daniels Road, Bordesley Green. She found hidden a box belonging to a George Horton. I believe he was probably Scottish. Does anyone know any descendents?
