    As it says, it is dated 1921 when he joined the Royal Warwicks 8th Bn. He states that he has seen previous service with the RAF, which would have been during WWI. Barrie

    Think we are at cross purposes here. The reference on his attestation certificate is for RAF service prior to 1921, not for WWII. I'm sorry I have no access to RAF records, so cannot tell you when he joined the RAF prior to 1921. Barrie.

    It looks like that might have been the wrong bloke anyway. Having found his attestation Certificate with the correct name and D.O.B. on it, it seems his previous service may have been with the RAF. Barrie.

    Have looked at his medal card; He received the Victory Medal and the British Medal, but did not receive either of the Stars, so probably did not serve in France. He had 3 service numbers during his service; 4972 R.War R. 27708 R.War.R 204762 Glouc's Regt. Barrie

    Hello. Can you give some idea of where their home address would have been, in 1918/1919. There are a few Frederick Field's on the Absent Voters lists, and a Frederick Field at Malvern Place, Beach St, Birmingham is in the military records on "Ancestry". Barrie.
