I can't remember if we have had a mention of that tinned bacon we got during the war, it came from America I believe, and was completely encased in lard inside the tin. It fried lovely.

    Formans Road Sparkhill

That shop looks remarkably like the one that stood at the corner of Solihull Rd and Formans Rd. In the late 1970's I lived in Percy Rd, and we bought our green grocery from the Sikh man who owned the shop at the time, but of course, all those shops tended to look the same. Barrie.

I also had my dads army greatcoat on me bed, it was really warm. As an aside, the greatcoat I was given when I joined up, was the first overcoat I had ever had. Barrie.

I was to afraid to get on a Midland Red Viv, they always looked so posh, and I didn't think they would let a little scruff like me ride on their buses. :sorrow: Barrie.

    Market Carts

That brings back memories. There used to be a place in I think Wilton Street, they hired out handcarts and basket carriages. On a Saturday I had to go and get either of those, load it up with tat, and steer it all the way from Berners St to the Rag Market, my uncles went on the bus, then...
