    Berners Street, Lozells

Hi Christine. I used to live next door to Mrs Wilson. I lived with my grandmother, Emily Oldfield at the second hand furniture shop, the other side of us were the Banhams. I remember Mrs Wilson very well, she was a very jolly lady, she loved a party.

    National Defence Medal.

Have to disagree with that statement Serviceman. The National Service Medal has to be bought from a private supplier, the Veterans Badge is issued by The Veterans Agency, there is no official medal for National Service.

Re the corruption Mike. My thoughts exactly. Shanghai and Hong Kong Police both had a bad name in the past, they lived like lords on quite ordiinary salaries.

The Sydenham became an Irish pub over the years, and when I lived in Sparkbrook, I'd used to go there to have a drink with the Navvies who worked for me. One night we found a horse in one of the sheds in the yard. No. It wasn't Shergar. lol Barrie

Those are fantastic Lyn. Thank you so much, I'm full of emulsion lol. That place next door to The Bridge Tavern was the workshop of our landlord Mr Pember, not that the old skinflint ever did any repairs. Thank you again Lyn. Barrie.

    Hunters Road Hockley

It was at the top of the hill, on the right hand side, near to Wills St, next door to our landlord Mr Pember. The other undamaged house next to the bomb site was the house where Mrs Pursehouse lived. I got into trouble for tipping a box of washing blue over the head of her daughter Sylvia. I...
