    Black Country Museum

Nice photos thanks. The trolleybuses have been off service since a large section of the overhead was nicked a while back but maybe have returned by now. Interestingly Blackpool's double deck "Balloon" trams also need a crew of three (motorman + 2 conductors) as there has to someone to operate...

    Birmingham buses

Its great to see the photos, i'm very much into classic buses but also the social side of bus travel as well. In recent times I have bought a lot of old Birmingham bus and tram photos and i'm having real difficulty with the locations but sadly for copyright reasons I can't post them here...

    bus depots and drivers.old buildings

Brilliant stuff Winston. When I get time I will have a proper look at it all. Some great photos.

    Black Country Museum

I was there in June for the second time and it had grown a lot since 1996 when I was first there. Great photos ell, So far I have never managed to be there when they were operating the beautiful double deck tram!! The trolleybuses appear to still be out of use too. The canal trip was a great...

    Aston Manor Transport Museum

The running day on October 16th will now be a general running day rather than one confined to MCW Metrobuses and Leyland Nationals, which many here would find rather modern, so older types will be running as well. The museum are trying to be as positive as possible in spite of the critical...

    Aston Manor Transport Museum

I'm clinging to the hope there might be some 11th hour rescue but it's not looking very likely. I have only been a member for a short while but feel sorry for those that gave decades to this museum. If the collections end up having to be sold off it will be a terrible situation as there is no...

    Birmingham buses

Terrible news about Aston Manor, something I had feared would happen.

    Daimler

The Guy Wolf pictured at Aston Manor was used by Guy Motors themselves at their Wolverhampton works so a lot of history to it as well as rarity.

    Birmingham Tram Photographs

I bought several over the past month from another seller called gracelandbar who handles the Travel Lens photographic collection. Some very nice photos. No more available for the moment though.

    Birmingham buses

That's the first photo of 3867 with it's roof that I have seen. I had never heard the circumstances of it's open top conversion before either. Does 3867 still exist? They are some lovely photos of the inside of Quinton Garage ragga. That was such a great looking garage, such a shame it was...

    Aston Manor Transport Museum

Just to bring the story up to date, Aston Manor is still in grave danger of closing. Negotiations with Birmingham City Council are continuing but the latest meeting still hasn't bridged the gap between the two parties mainly because of the unrealistic value the council are putting on the...

    Brummie sayings & language

And calling somebody 'Mucker' or even 'Me old mucker' seems to come up in books where a Brummie is speaking, dont think I've ever heard it for real though. That was a very common one in Dublin at one time "How are you me old mucker?" But it's seldom used now. That horrible word "bud" meaning...

    Lickey Hills

Weather was indeed kind and lots of photos were taken. They gave me a map in the visitor centre so I knew where I was wandering! Bilberries were just getting ripe too, a tasty snack while walking! I spent a while at the start working out where the famous old tram shelter used to be.

    Lickey Hills

I managed to visit the Lickeys a few weeks back on my visit over to Brum, an X62 bus taking me there instead of a tram sadly. The section of tram track mentioned previously is still at Rednal although rather choked up with weeds now. A very enjoyable day was had exploring the hills before...

The Demolition of the former B.C.T Bus Garage at Quinton

Sad series of photos recording the demise of this once fine depot which proudly displayed the words "Birmingham City Transport" right until the end. As the owner of a former Quinton bus, albeit in need of much restoration work, such scenes make me more determined to see it restored to join other...

    Caravan Holidays

Withdrawn buses were very often converted into caravans in times past, it still happens today but on a much smaller scale. In fact many preserved buses and trams owe their existance to having survived as caravans often serving this role for several decades.

A Destination Blind in the Bull Ring Shopping Center

That is a regular money making racket on Ebay as well these days, carving up destination blinds & sticking the parts in frames to be offered for sale at ridiculous prices. Personally I feel that cutting up blinds that may well be rare and sought after by enthusiasts is pure vandalism.......

    Birmingham buses

So Bangham Pit is quite an historical name after all. It is on a destination blind that I bought for Fleetline 4130 which will be fitted when it's eventually restored. I also think its a great name, lots of Birmingham bus routes ended up at lovely sounding destinations, Druid's Heath is another...

    Birmingham buses

Cornering like that was even more dramatic if there was a pram or case stored on the platform!! If you were lucky it would remain in one piece when it slid off onto the road
