    Excellent pics ellbrown, thank you. The brickwork on the old building facades that we are loosing look so nice. But may be I am old fashioned. The new buildings look quite good but you do not get the feeling that they are built to the same standard. Will they age as gracefully as the old ones...

    Now thats interesting. Heirloom street-furniture obviously gets removed because its actually illegitimate (and may be confusing). Logical - but sometimes we forget that I guess.

    ( I can't find anything on this on the search ) ... I pass the massive Eastside development every day to and from work (by Curzon Circus). I can't believe how fast it is progressing. Just thought it might be worthy of a thread and if we have any pictures it would be great.

    Phil - 1945 pic - on the right hand tip of the POW/camp triangle - theres a strip cleared in the trees - wonder what that is ? - looks a bit like a landing strip.

    yes the mounds I referred to were on the opposite side to the boat house, across the field from where the roundabouts use to be. As if you were walking along the side of the pool towards the trees (walking parallel to Monmouth Drive) and past the ship (mid pool). I'm pretty sure they came from...

    I reckon the chap standing to the front is the driver, what you think ? I was thinking thats a fag in his mouth - making him look like a Jack-the-lad but I'm not sure if its a mark on the pic now. I just hope the brakes were good.
