Moseley Tea & Honey Shop ?

Well spotted Pedro .... it appears to be a wrongly labelled photo, but it prompted an interesting thread. And Rednal is still within the scope of the Forum. Viv: there was no identifiable theme to the 5 or 6 photos on the pub wall .... except that they are all (supposed to be) in Moseley.

Moseley Tea & Honey Shop ?

I noticed this photo yesterday on the wall in the back room of the Trafalgar (now Patrick Kavanagh) pub in Woodbridge Road, Moseley. Does anyone know whereabouts in Moseley this shop was located? EDIT: Location identified by Pedro as Fern Cottage in Rednal.

    Bull Street

The photo is one of the James Burgoyne set taken to record views before the construction of Corporation Street, dated c1875. It's description in the Birmingham Library archive is "Garden at rear of 93 Bull Street, Birmingham" .... which is the old Barrow's Store location (on the west side of...

    Old building Query

The Milward building - that Dennis posted to start this thread - is shown on the right hand side of this painting by Warren Blackham. It also shows the Lichfield Street end of the Gullet .... next to Thos Hopkins' Tea Shop.

    James Burgoyne photographic collection

Another couple of James Burgoyne photos that haven't appeared on this thread yet .... showing Balloon Street before it was cleared. The attached "Birmingham Improvement Scheme" map (dated March 1879) indicates the proposed route of Corporation Street, and where Balloon Street was located.

    General Hospital Birmingham

A clearer version of a previously posted 1885 photo of the old General Hospital in Summer Lane. The poster in the bottom right of the photo is advertising the Birmingham Triennial Music Festival that was held at the Town Hall (during that period) to raise funds for the General Hospital. The...

Shakespeare Tavern - Lower Temple Street

A George Warren Blackham painting of the Shakespear Tavern. It bears the name Mark Yates, so I assume it's the one in Lower Temple Street .... even though it doesn't look identical to the earlier photo, but I guess that's artistic licence.

Betty Burden - Picture Post photos 1951

Yes Lyn .... I didn't have access to the electoral register, but I worked out the house location from that photo on Post #9, and the position of the entry in the first photo on Post #2.

Betty Burden - Picture Post photos 1951

Thanks for your post Gareth .... it's a very interesting story. Sorry to hear that your mom has now passed away. I'm sure many of us would like to see the full story if you're able to scan the Picture Post .... the photos are really evocative.

    OLD AND NEW PHOTOGRAPHS

SteveBhx: Many thanks for the old photos of the Bear pub (opened c1937), and previous occupants, on the corner of Stratford Road and Thornhill Road in Sparkhill .... I hadn't seen them before. I was born and brought up in Thornhill Road, and the spot outside those corner pub doors was our...
