Remember the Scout Hut as I was with the 298th for a couple of years 1954-55. Still had contacts up to a couple of years ago. OldBrummie

A memory of shopping at the shops when one turned left out of Lyndon Road, past the Sheldon Cinema and just past the stream that is called Westley Brook on today's maps (I think in the 40's it went by another name). Mom used the grocery shop and the butcher. But I remember going to the Barber...

Now there's a coincidence Oldbrit. Humphrey Lyttleton was my introduction to Jazz, on record, when I was a schoolboy. OldBrummie.

Judy, forgot the last bit. I can't recall the venue in Aston I was doorman but I seem to recall it was ground floor and the room itself was quite large with stage at the far end opposite the entrance. Not a spectacular room but good Jazz and good crowds. One other thing I remember was that...

    Jazz Clubs

Judy I am sure we were together some of the time. I certainly miss those days. Here in Aus there is still some Jazz to be found but it's rather 'few and far between' these days. We used to have a lot of Pub Jazz in Sydney but those days have long gone. Talking of Basie reminds me I also saw...

    Jazz Clubs

Memories. Where would we be without them. I used to frequent the Midland Jazz Club after 'Tech'. Again, Joined Ronnie Scott's at The Mermaid and had some fabulous Monday evenings there. Also, "worked the door" at a venue in Aston for Basil Wainwright. Last I heard of him, he was "Locked Up" in a...

Thanks for that Lyn. Had a look but I doubt there's a connection. OldBrummie.

Chris. Further to my last. My Charles Myers was not the only one! A second Charles Myers Bramham was born in Hull. Yorkshire in 1853. He married a Catherine F and had children Ernest S, Nellie M, Amy V, and Gertrude M. His birth record in 1853 and Census records in 1891 and 1901 illustrate this...

Friday 8am Aussie time. Chris, I spent a few hours yesterday chasing the Bramhams and any possible link or connection to the family name Myers. Alas, nothing. I went back as far as records (ancestry and findmypast) would allow me but came up with nothing. I used both Bramham and Myers together...

Chris I confess the name did have me guessing but alas I really have no idea. I will see if I can come up with anything and if successful will let you know. Pete.

Hi Chris. Elenor Rosa Bramham (nee Chinery) was my 3rd Cousin Twice Removed so somewhat distant. My Mother was a Chinery. I do in fact follow up (or should I say backwards) on families that have contributed to our lines (both Chinery and Platt) purely for adding colour to the story. Here's...

ladylinda I appreciate that very much. I'm impressed with the 'Memorial'. I tried 'expanding' the names and although I was able to pick out the Bramhams, they were somewhat blurred. None the less we have the evidence and I am truly grateful. OldBrummie.
