    300 High St Harborne

I just came across this on another site..... "The Royalty Cinema in Harborne, Birmingham, was designed by celebrated picture house architect Horace G Bradley during the first great wave of cinema building and opened on 20th October, 1930. " So the photo's in posts 12 & 29 must have been taken...

    300 High St Harborne

Sorry Viv only just realised you had already posted it earlier, must get my eyes tested. The photo looks 30's or 40's to me. I wish there was something in the photo to suggest a date. May even be older with the sepia tone however that may be misleading. There does not appear to be any road signs...

    300 High St Harborne

I hope this may help, maybe the premises in question is the shop to the far left of the photo with the cinema in the background. It shows The Vine Inn in the middle and also what would be Happy Harry's gates on the left. There is no signage on Happy Harry's so I would presume this photo was...

Nick, the picture I posted was sent to me a few years ago. I believe it was from a pictorial history book of Harborne. Unfortunately there are many such books published so can't give an actual source, perhaps someone may be able to enlighten us on this. I have often found inaccuracies in some...

    Radio

Interesting snip from Wireless Word magazine, 11th November 1922. Although not named I believe the Mayor in the photo is Sir David Davis, listed as Lord Mayor 1921 - 1923.

    Radio

Back in March I posted a link in a thread called "These Trying Times - 2020" to a excellent site called "American Radio History". At the time I thought some folks may find loads of interesting material to peruse to pass the time. The site has now changed it's name to "World Radio History" and I...

    Dennison’s Birmingham's first light switch

I came across this amusing however very dangerous set up in a old copy of Practical Mechanics Magazine, June 1937. Thank the Lord we now have modern Wiring Regulations in place. I am sure this is obvious, but please, don't try this at home!

Location wanted for this bus if possible

There seems to be something visible through the back window of the bus, lower part of the buttress's Maybe? If they are buttress's then they would be in the right place for the church. These maybe..... Also visible is the roof of a car. Waiting at the traffic lights possibly?
