    This a picture of Fred Harris and Cyril Tigg two old players from the past. They served the club for 34 years, and the are both my uncles at a familly funcion. They must be turning in their graves now at what is going on at their old club.

    Do not remind me of that cup final. Iwas in the army doing n/s. Imanaged to get a ticket, but it was one of the many times they have broken my heart.Another was them not being able to beat Fulham in 2 matches a few years later despite being odds on favourits to reach another final.

    Iwas at the railway end were the ball hit the bar.My uncle Fred Harris was in the Blues team that day,the next season he became captain after Arther Turner.Iwas also at the ground the day Gil Merrick saved a cannon ball penalty from Dougie Reed of Portsmouth

    Does anyone remember the large double fronted bread and cake shop a little way up from the Mermaid. I believe it was call Wrights??. They had a large room above that you could hire for a function. Iwas a page boy there in 1939 when my uncle Fred Harris the Blues player got married

    Iforgot to say that Jukes shop was right next to the school in Reddings Lane,the buliding on the corner of Weston Lane and Reddings Lane was a post office run by Mr wadsworth, his son went to our school.

    I was a pupil atFormans Rd School 1946-1950 and remember Jukes and Trumams shops. On the first day of the month when sweet coupons started Jukes shop was always full. One person would use his coupon and the other would pay, and then divide the sweets. The next week the position would be reversed.
