    Henry Child, Pawnbroker

Blimey Mike! No I haven't yet. I've been going through my male line (Johnson) and just quickly jotted down Annie's details/parents etc with every intention of coming back to the Child line. An Ancestry link I found on Google tells me that the Child family are fourth cousins of Benjamin...

    Ice lollies without a stick

I think you are right, no more than sixpence at any rate. If I had the choice I always went for the dark red one called 'Red Devil' ?? I think.

    Birmingham buses

I loved the old buses, jumping off the platform at the back before it stopped was the best part of the journey, plus having a crafty after school fag upstairs on the way home. I don't ever remember riding on a Midland Red bus though, weren't they for the longer routes out of town?

    Where was your first holiday?

A mates family invited me to join them on a static caravan holiday to Burnham on sea when I was 12 or 13, loved it. Five years later I made the move to the South West coast permanent. Still haven't tired of the sea view every morning after 45 years.

    Bus routes (70s and 80s)

I used to live just round the corner from the Spinney (bus terminus) at the end of Witton Lodge Rd and Court Lane. Number 7 bus to Villa Park (I think?) As kids we used to hand around there, picking up bus tickets looking for reversible numbers! I think we were easily pleased. Ha!

    Help Deciphering a certificate.

That's a good point Eric. She had only one child, my father in 1937, and no more children until her death ten years later. She was still married to my Grandfather who was in attendance at her death.

    Help Deciphering a certificate.

My Grandmother died in 1947 aged 34 at Johnson Rd Erdington. Of course I'm curious to know why she departed so early. I can read 'certified by ? ? Mc Creary MD but not the a1 cause or by, although I think the second word is Tumour. Can anyone decipher this please.
