Sanitorium Little Bromwich Hospital Yardley Green Road Yardley Road

Re: little bromage hospital I was in Little Bromwich Isolation hospital (originally City Hospital) for 2 months in 1951. It was in Yardley Green Rd. It wasn't the same building as the sanatorium.

    Library Of Birmingham 2013

I don't understand the fuss that the Library has reverted back to not opening on a Sunday. Someone comes from Ireland, and doesn't have the wit to check the opening hours! There are more important things to shout about. This Library was a folly from the start. The cuts are across the board. As a...

    Where did you live

The bus accident, that killed my sister in law's sister, was on Moat Lane on 19 December 1956.

    Where did you live

Hi Devon Jim, I wondered if it was the same accident. The sister of my sister in law was killed by a bus, just by Vera Road.

RIP Jackie. A much respected lady. We shared a friend in Len Copsey. My thoughts are with her family. God bless

    Church Road, Yardley.

Oldbrit, Don't worry about your memory. A lot of locals called The St Bernard's Grange Pub, The Bilton Grange, back in the 50's. My dad, his family and friends certainly did anyway!

    Old street pics..

Hi Dennis Williams, (Re the Yardley Ring O Bells) No worries. Sorry I am slow to reply, but I don't seem to have much time to come on here at the moment.

    Old street pics..

The original Ring O Bells was opposite Yardley Church, the dark building. It was moved away from the church, because of protests about alcohol being served so close to the church. The same thing happened with The Ring O Bells, opposite St Giles Sheldon.

Thank you Astoness. Yes, I was referring to wrong captions in general. Because Mr Burke is very good at wrong captions. Bernard, what is a now de plum? Your post makes no sense.

St James Church Frederick Road Aston

I don't think Tom Burke is a member here. Just as well, as he seems to be a member of all the Birmingham sites and copies photos from all, and quickly reposts them on all the other Birmingham sites. Sadly, he doesn't bother about the detail of the original post, so is constantly posting wrong...

    Library Of Birmingham 2013

Birmingham Council have to pay out over one billion pounds, because of the equal pay dispute, and that has to come from somewhere. We pay our council tax to Birmingham, and have had numerous letters about the difficult cuts. In my opinion, this new library, should never have been built. Not yet...

    Library Of Birmingham 2013

Books, I've always loved books. But now my husbands care is going to be cut. Don't care so much about books

    Library Of Birmingham 2013

I didn't say priority. I'm pointing out the cuts are across the board. If the library wins their fight it will take the budget from the vulnerable

Very sad yes. But the cuts to the elderly and vulnerable have bigger consequences.

    Searching for a burial

Hi, My brother John was a still born at Loveday Street in 1941. My mother was told that he was placed in the coffin of somebody else, an elderly person. That is all she was told. She regretted not knowing where he went. Some still borns were used for medical science.

    City Hospital, Little Bromwich 1911

The City Hospital, Little Bromwich, is the hospital we now call Heartlands. The City Hospital building is still there at the back, just by the Yardley Green Road entrance. I was in isolation there in 1951 for a couple of months. Visiting was very strict, and my parents could only see me through...
