I believe 2645 preceeded 2762 with an illuminated panel. 2762 followed I believe after 2645's withdrawal. Apparently 3056 followed 2762's withdrawal. (Malcolm Keeleys book West Midlands page 29)

It is a great pity that one of the crash box guys could not have been saved, particularly LOG 300. I see it was withdrawn in 1971, just prior to 3001 and 3002 in 1972. For anyone interested I have an XL worksheet of buses withdrawal dates by year (2526-3227).. Working on 1481-2525.

Why did the BCT order these 6 crash box Guys? I heard they were ordered for a special service but never knew why or where. I believe apart from a short stint at Cotteridge, they all spent most of their lives at Washwood Heath. A couple did spend time in Walsall towards the end of their life.

    Postcard of MOF 3186 (3186)

Very sad Such a pity it could not be saved. I have video of it when it was at Aston Manor; thought about buying it myself to restore, but could see doing it in Canada. Need the expertise of England. What happened to it? I used firefox with no problem.

South Birmingham Shops, Pubs and Garages

Fascinating snaps. Brought back lots of memories. The thing I noticed most was the lack of yellow lines! I lived at the corner of Oakfield Road and Pershore Rd in Selly Park, right opposite the Post Office, which was mainly a grocery store. The garage to the city side was run by a mechanic...

OK, here's one that has me puzzled. When did Midland Red buses go to Perry Barr? Maybe the driver made too many "thirst stops"... lol

In that case, my statement that it was 1931 from Liverpool St. was incorrect. As it is 1831, that means it was a Highgate Rd bus, as was 2687. I don't think Liverpool St supplied either the 57B or 36 from Station St.

    Where is this? 59

A Liverpool St. bus, presumably on the 19 City Circle, and in the Highgate Area. Alcester St. sounds good

    Carpenters' Arms - Adelaide Street

I wonder how many times we must have bumped elbows then Phil. The Bag of Nails was where I always partook. Never liked the back room. Thanks Ann, I will look forward to revisiting, although I'm sure there won't be any Brew XI. Sigh:rolleyes:

Anyone remember how wonderful this pub was in the late 1960's, when it was run by Bill & Brenda Penn? Fantastic beer, wonderful food (for that time) and a "genteel" atmosphere. Visited it last time in UK and so sad it has gone downhill.
