    Mof 215 (3215)

Does anyone have a really good picture of this bus in service hopefully in BCT colors. I have the front number plate which I would like to restore and put on one of my vehicles. At least I'll have a memory to my old bad days in the 50's and 60/s Birmingham probably riding in on the 18 route. I...

    28 bus route

Thanks Dave89 for the info. I assume this subject of the 31/32 route relates to when BCT/WMPTE operated. I once again from memory the 31A only went part way, possibly to the factory on Shaftmoor Lane. Since you never saw at 31, here's a picture of 2974 running the 31 and 2321 on the 32

    28 bus route

The Lakey Lane Loop was used by the 31,31A and 32 routes running to the Acocks Green area. All routes arrived at the same terminus but as I recall the 31 went via Shaftmoor Lane the 32 followed a different route but I can't remember where. If memory is correct the 31 returned as a 32 and the 32...

    Birmingham Buses Part 2

I am intruiged by the first photo, especially that of "18" (obviously MOF 18) Note the rear destination panel is blanked over. Does this mean it's a training bus?

    Birmingham Buses Part 2

Based on my database of withdrawal info, 2193 went in 1966, so I suggest this would be the year of the fire. 2171 may have been repaired, but it also went to the scrappers the following year with most of the Leylands. 2204 was the first of this group to be withdrawn in 1965 for test purposes.

The former Lea Hall Bus Garage

or they have decided to keep it and close somewhere else?

    BCT Garages

It is pretty sad to think of all those wonderful garages, especially the tram ones, and unless I am mistaken, the only places left with actual visible tracks are Miller Street and the ex Aston Manor site, the later of course having an extensive track layout with points and the overhead. I...

    Birmingham buses

Both Lloyd and I have a picture of 2243 suggesting it is at Hockley, since right behind it is a PD2,of the 2131-2180 series and to the left of 2243 is 2143, a Hockley bus

    No 48 & No 49 Bus Routes

The 49 ran down Hurst St to Sherlock St,and turned left on to MacDonald St, then right up Leopold St to Moseley Road. I believe the destination for Moseley Village was 49F.The full 49 route ran just past Kings Heath, but was used only during rush hours.

    No 12 BUS ROUTE

I would suggest posting this in the Buses thread.. there is more brain power there who should be able to help.

Where in Birmingham was this taken ??

Referring to Ragga's picture on post 124, the bus is running Route 18, I believe the fleet number is JOJ 91, which was YW based. As far as stages were concerned, the "optimum" distance between stages was 5/8 mile. which strangely enough converts to 1 km!! I have no idea how, when or why this...

    Birmingham buses

I do not think it is 1530. This was very badly damaged after turning over and was scrapped by BCT. I have a picture of 1630 together with CVP 221 at Andy's, although 1630 is not as painted as Ragga's picture

    A mystery to solve

Novelty... I missed the ad on 2942, so as you say it must be later than 1955. However, did'nt the change from semaphore signals to flashers occur before then ? Would 2942 have been transferred to Cotteridge by then with 2941-2943 from S/Oak I wonder? Guess this mystery will never be solved...

    A mystery to solve

OK,seems to have everyone baffled, so here is my theory... After tram withdrawal in 1952, Cotteridge route 45 ran down Pershore Road to Belgrave Road,up Belgrave Rd to Bristol Rd, then to city. As the turn from Pershore Rd to Belgrave Rd was very sharp, the curb was cut back, as evidenced by...

    A mystery to solve

Sorry Novelty, I don't think Cotteridge had traffic lights, however 2942 was Cotteridge based and 1525 Harborne based; but if 1525 Harborne based, which supplied stock on the 11 why "Service Extra"?

Last tram ever along Bristol Road

Sorry Adrian, July 1952 was indeed the last working of the Rednal/Rubery/Cotteridge trams. July 1953 was the final demise of all trams in Birmingham with the ending of Tyburn Road(Pype Hayes)/Stockland Green/Erdington routes.

    A mystery to solve

This picture has me puzzled. I believe I know the location, perhaps all the experts can ease part of my mind. However, the second part of the puzzle is more difficult. What is 1525 doing? The wonderful "Service extra" is of no help, and I have discounted one place it may be off to. Again, I...

    Problem" Bimingham Buses" Thread

Yes, there must be a problem. A couple of days ago we had 55 pages, now I see we're down to 45. Hopefully the "genius" will fix it.
