2020 BHF NEW YEAR MEET UP

I have parked along the street next to the pub before but I'm sure it was for a Sunday meet up. Also I seem to remember a large car park behind the pub? Does it seem likely that I will be able to park on a Saturday?

Where to find out how a street got its name?

Arh, the Mayor, I see. I just saw the name of the road and wondered why. My relation Freda lived and is buried in Harborne, and as she has an unusual headstone and died in a road accident, I just wondered. I didn't think that Fredas grove was named after her but I just thought I would find...

Where to find out how a street got its name?

Site contractor and local authority, not that I doubt you for one second, but I would have thought that it wouldn't have included the site contractor at all. I would have hoped it would have been some sort of naming ritual carried out by someone high and mighty!!!!!!

I did think of that, I'm halfway through reading up on it. I think I will give it a try anyway as it might bring me some info. Thanks for mentioning it Maurice.

Lauries International Club, Birmingham (central) 1997 - does anyone remember this club?

Thanks Maurice. It would be great if I could find pics of Laurie with Lionel. Surely there may be some pics somewhere as Laurie was involved in party politics.

Lauries International Club, Birmingham (central) 1997 - does anyone remember this club?

Thanks Maurice, I may have stumbled across that when I was searching for information on Lionel, but I wasn't really concentrating much on Laurie at that point. But thanks for pointing it out, much appreciated.

Lauries International Club, Birmingham (central) 1997 - does anyone remember this club?

Laurie Williams was in possession of a night club in 1997, sorry I am not sure of the street but it was in central Birmingham. It was a 1930's built car showroom that he bought and transformed into the first private members gay club in 1997, in time for the first gay pride event. Laurie...

Thanks mikejee, I did search but I didn't put the GWR in, but then I probably would have come across your post if I had looked through the 10 pages the search threw up!

Great info on the iron urinal and the disused stations link. Thank you, just what I wanted to know. Even the date they were built and manufacturer on the plaque.:):)
