    We used to sell the dansette record players at our shop in Aston with the BSR auto change that my dad said "worked like a mangle" but did the job.It was rather primitive when compared to the Garrard auto change on the old posh radiograms.We also sold records and my first purchase was Stupid...

    Loxton Street School

    I have a similar photo of my mothers school and looking at the children's style of dress and hair cut it was from roughly the same era.She lived in Bloomsbury Street and attended Loxton Street School.

    I used to be dragged screaming by my mother to the Atlas cinema, the Beaufort Cinema and the other one on the railway bridge near the Pelham pub to watch dancing and musical films.I now cringe when ever the names Fred Astair, Ginger Rogers and Gene Kelly are mentioned.

    Our childhood toys

    Bayko was a system for building houses,it had a green plastic base into which rods were inserted.The bricks windows and doors slotted over the rods and you could design and build your house. the roof was already formed and rested on to the structure.
