    On the note of the ' smells' - the old HP Sauce factory has been long demolished, but there are works starting on a large complex for East End foods, to be built on the site. The earthworks are in progress at the moment and I have it from a contractor I know ( who is involved in the project )...

    Thanks for answering some of the queries Phil. All of the postcards hail from between 1900 - 1930 - lots more to come from various places - this is the first of a ' new section' on the forum.

    Went past the Ben Johnson earlier today - still boarded up - but there is a sign on the door saying that the Turks is re-open as a student venue and Cafe. Had many a pint in both back in the early 1980's and also in the General Woolfe ( long since demolished ) and the Sack of Spuds - happy days...

    Picture two if too far gone to get anything decent out of it - but here is an ' artists impression ' - with plenty of artistic licence taken. From what is viewable it looks ike a tea picker on a plantation . This picture is more for fun than anything - and crudely done. Ian.
