    Is this salford bridge..erdington

Thanks Alan - the building in the photo must have stood between the bridge and the cottages that still exist.

    Is this salford bridge..erdington

Looking at the building roof, it is very different fron the existing ( terraced ) cottages that still stand by Salford Bridge - that isn't to say there weren't other building nearby that no longer exist. I have several pictures of Salford Bridge and the surrounding area from 1910 - 1930 and none...

    Garbett Street, Ladywood

Mike - that's brilliant - Alfred & May Florence Brown were my grandparents - that's stunning and solved my query - I was wondering about the 6-33 Garbett Street part - I double checked and 6-33 is what is typed on an old insurance document, never occured that it refered to back to back ...

    Garbett Street, Ladywood

Looking into my late fathers affairs I came across an old document that has an address of 6-33 Garbett Street, Ladywood from 1935. I think that he was born here but find the address of 6-33 strange - was it a hospital ? If anyone could shed any light I'd be most grateful. Looking at old maps...

    Plague

Back to the original thread - there's masses of history in the area where frothy's first pic was taken. Time Team on Channel 4 did a dig there, although not plague related but regarding WWII defences - further details here ...

It's in Fittleworth, West Sussex, Eric . Fantastic painting - having been there a couple of times you've really captured the place well. https://www.swaninn.com/

Tyburn Road - old shop sign - Lister & Pointon

Not used the place much myself either - always found the place dingy - a lick of paint and a brighter light might have helped - the window was pointless as near enough covered so no natural light reach the inner.

    Crimes : Birmingham murders

Getting back to the original thread. I remember the Barbara Forrest murder - I was about to become a teen at the time and lived opposite Pype Hayes Park - but on the Eachelhurst Road side and not the Chester Road side where she was found. I remember that the drained the pond in the park...

Tyburn Road - old shop sign - Lister & Pointon

In reply to John Knight - it is already posted - post #1. - I can e-mail you a higher resolution if required - just PM me. Spoke to the shopkeeper two doors down at the Newsagents and General store - he said that the off licence has closed. They did not bother renewing their licence ( rumour...

Tyburn Road - old shop sign - Lister & Pointon

Hi Frothy - yes it is - and answering Mike - I think it is around 672 or 674 Tyburn Road. And here it is from Google Streetview - with the Malhi's Super Booze off licence sign still in place.

Tyburn Road - old shop sign - Lister & Pointon

There is an off licence on Tyburn Road ( opposite Wood Lane ) that is either being closed down or refurbished. The illuminated perspex sign has been taken down revealing the old shop hoarding - some of the members on the site might know more about it - I certainly don't - looks 50's or 60's . A...

What has happened to our great statues ?

Thanks brumgum. I had a look on the way home from work - and the article you've linked proves it beyond a shadow of a doubt - it's great that Hebe has not been lost forever or melted down. I must admit I don't ever remember seeing it when it was at Holloway Head. I do wonder where the ' swing...

What has happened to our great statues ?

Re: Holloway Ciircus. Now I might be wrong here - but there is a very similar statue in a similar pose in Corporation St, opposite the Sound Bar and adjacent to the helicopter 'landing pad' for the Children's hospital. Here's hoping that 'she' was not stolen and has since been relocated. I...

    S. U. Carburettors Wood lane

They also had a skid pan that they shared with Dunlop - one of the first times I ever attempted to drive was in a GPO Commer van down the skid pan as a 16 year old - and I still don't drive to this day.

Wolf Brewery - Hero - Help for Heroes
