    I think it doesn't help when you find someone has written on the census a wrong detail eg may johns who married John W. Hadley we believe is born 1896 but on one census she comes out as born 1898. Then throw into the mix registration quarters and how someone's birth the last quarter of the year...

    Will do. I want to pay over the phone but rang Birmingham registry yesterday which put me through tons of options then said apply online and then they cut you off. I will see if I can actually speak to someone today. Thanks

    I was wondering how to access her information when she was at gem Street to try and discover why she was there, who her parents were, dob exactly and if she had siblings.

    Matilda is listed on 1871 census aged 3 gem Street Industrial School for unruly children but it would seem on 1881 she moved to Walter major Lesters Girls Home in Lancaster. I only have a copy of the gem Street entry.

    Well we assume 64 if 1892 is correct. I think on the 1939 census it gives his age. If that is correct it would be 1892

    John was born 1892. I assume birmingh John William Hadley was born 1892. We assume he was born in Birmingham. He married May Elizabeth Hadley 1915 in Aston Birmingham. But can't find a birth record for him. He died aged 64 in 1956.
