    Items that have faded away

Not strictly a product, but how many of today's drivers would know what I was on about if I said to them "pull the choke out". My grandson had'nt a clue when I asked him. Terry

    Birmingham in 1950s

"I have taught him how to make a skimmer with 5 flat lollipop sticks, anyone remember those?." I used to make those as well, but I'm blowed if I can remember how. Terry

    Birmingham in 1950s

I used to do that Eric, only with an elastic band, you wound it up and as it unwound it would move. Oh, and we used to cut notches in the reel so that it would climb over things, just like a tank. Happy days. Terry

Dont know who the landlords were in Nechells, but when I was living in Hockley 1958 It was Birmingham who were the landlords, as can be seen from my parents rent book. Terry

    Market Hall 1835 - 1963

I was always fascinated by the crockery sellers, the way they used to juggle the sets of crockery like a pack of cards. I think most of the crowd was only there hoping to see him drop the plates, but it never happened. Something you don't seem to see these days. terry

    See Birmingham by Post Card

The film/play 'The Planters Wife' starring Jack Hawkins was released in 1952, so I would imagine that was when it was painted. Terry

    Cato Street

This is the only picture I have of the so called Monkey House or Duddeston Mill Tavern. I cannot remember where I got the picture so I cannot verify if the name is correct. All I know is that I had a drink in the Monkey House 2 or 3 times and I always thought the pub was on the left in Cato St...
