    Sweeneys , tv rentals

No I think your getting confused there, Boyds of Bond St, later Boyds Rentals sold out in the 70s, to Visionhire I think.

    Sweeneys , tv rentals

Cant agree with that ! a good, trained TV engineer, especially during the 60s had to be multi skilled, unlike most service engineers working in industry or say telephone engineers. They spent longer in training than doctors. There were of course numpties, there are in any trade. but most...

Stranger On The Shore. Tv Serial

I keep hearing the tune lately. Do I remember right that it was originall the theme tune to a short lived TV series about an aupair living with a middle class family, or maybe even a soap ?

    Britannia, Warwick Road now Closed

last winter I rehearsed with a band in the Brittania, only a few times as it was very a short lived excersise. Never saw a customer in there, we more or less had the place to ourselves, just as well, there was hardly any beer ! Whatever you asked for, they only had one or two different beers...

Cattell Road between the Atlas and Arsenal St

The Marquis used to have a big glass(I think) sort of dome thingy on the corner of the roof, missing in this pic. Seems a shame when architectural features like that are removed dunnit. Anybody know how it got its name, and who was the Marquis of Lorne ?? If I remember right, the Gaffer was...

Things you said when you was a kid

Buggery was always buggery far as I know, use to carry a life sentence... Calling somebody a Bugger, seems different somehow. Our mom used the term all the time. She used to call me a little Sod as well. Dont think for a minute that these words meant the same to her generation. It was just...

    Brum Slang

Wotcha, Think you misunderstood me, What I said was "I reckon as you go towards the Black Country, say Great Barr, or Winson Green its gradually gets a bit more Black Country" I agree its not a Black Country accent round there, but its , or was a few years ago, different to say Aston, which...

I reckon if you could hear the crowds cheering at either the blues or the villa grounds. Close as you'll get to the sound of bow bells.........? Then again, forget that. It would rule me out, I was born at Marston Greeen Hospital.

    Brum Slang

Always seems genuinly proud of anything from Brum though dont he ? I dont watch Train programs, but the Industrial Revelations ones are good.

    Childhood rituals and fantasies.

You could have something there, ever wondered why imaginary friends have strange sounding names, as above-Gospud ? Never seem to be called Dave or Susan or anything like that.

    I had one of those.

Even so, the later HC were a lot better than the early ones. I had J reg first, but then I got an M reg, with a bigger engine, brakes that actually stopped you, crossplys etc, world of a difference. Still no Radio though. lol
