I loved em. Saw Vesta boxes at the Beggars Bush Tesco's not long ago. Not sure if it was the Beef Curry or the orrible Chow Mein stuff though. why does nobody else put raisins in curry like Vesta did ?

If he was born in Birmingham you might find his D.O.B at the Central Library. there are, or at least there used to be a series of books listing those who served, by Regiment. They were on the History Dep't floor at one time. I found my grandfather listed under the Gloucester Regiment there...

    Birmingham Old Time Boxers Club

Do you mean the club that was on top of the Fosters shop on Coventry Rd ? If its any help, it had also been The Blues supporters club, and before that I think it had something to do with the Buffs, and was run by a bloke called Bernard, but still seemed to mostly have the same people in it no...

    Sons Of Rest

I remember they had a shed in Small Heath Park. Thought they were still there in Brookvale park. Seems a shame if they have died out.

Cattell Road between the Atlas and Arsenal St

There was a cafe next door to Ashley Garage, clearly visible in pic #4 post 84 of this thread. but that was at the bottom of Cattell Rd / Junction of Coventry Rd. The Atlas / Garrison La. was at the top end. Also, in the very late 60s, there was a cafe opposite the bus garage, in the premises...

Cattell Road between the Atlas and Arsenal St

There was a cafe more or less next to the Atlas Garage. on the left if you were going towards town. Dunno why but for some reason its stuck in my mind that the jukebox had a telephone type dial on the front rather than push buttons.
