Sorry to hear the news about Dennis. He was always a quiet lad with a cheeky smile who somehow used to get into trouble a lot. Many a time I saw him having a scrap in the playground after school. Happy days!

    Bracebridge Street

Yes Lyn, well spotted. When the Queen visited Brum she came down Bracebridge St from Aston Road to visit The Norton I think? This could date the picture to that time or it could have been commemorating her coronation in 1953. Maybe the experts can comment?

Hi Lyn, The picture of man and boy is taken at the junction of Miller Street and Bracbridge Street looking directly up Miller Street in the direction of the Tram (later Bus ) Depot and Newtown Row. Aston Street 1950

Hi Maggie, Just type Aston Street into Search and click Posts then Go. Here is one I have posted before showing the Central Fire Station and on the right is the start of Aston Street, which ran into Aston Road, then Aston Road North up to Aston Cross. The picture was sent to me as a Christmas card.

The Albion pub in Aston is on the corner of Aston Road North and Whitehouse Street (pictured in 2nd post). Rippingille Aston Road

Ray, Rippingills definitely rings a bell and the spelling is fine - both confirmed by Alf's post. Whether it was Rippingills before the war I can't say as I am too young to know!! Now it's not often I get a chance to say that!!! P.S. It is the Havelock pub.

    Rippingille Aston Road

Hi Lyn, It looks like Aston Road North opposite The Avenue pub. I can't think of the factory's name though. These 2 pictures are from Ray Griffiths. The 1st one taken from virtually the same place as the bombed factory pic and the 2nd one is taken from the petrol station looking in the direction...
