    Bracebridge Street

Hi Lyn, Well, well! You found a good one. The shop in the picture is on the corner of an "opening" (as we used to call them). An opening was a gap between houses leading to a terraced row of houses, as this was. The lady who used to own it when I was there was Mrs Ford (Florrie Ford as she was...

    St Mary's church Aston

Hi Pauline, Roy was a small lad. We left St. Marys in 1955 for Charles Arthur Street (Nechells Park). When we left in 1959 Roy went for a dirty job, metal polishing, which paid good money. I began an apprenticeship at Salisbury Transmissions, Witton. We used to meet up in the snooker hall at...

    The Number 39

Hi Jennyann, Neither did I, I only remarked that its the only place to turn other than Aston Park. I don't actually remember a 39A bus for that matter.

    The Number 39

Witton was always the terminus for the 39 as with the 3x tram. The only reason I can think of for the 39A turning round at Aston Park/Holte Hotel/Aston Church would be for Villa supporters leaving a game early because they were losing!! The only other place a 39 could turn around would have been...
