    Aston Brook Street

Thanks Lyn and Mike for the photo. I don't recall seeing it before. It looks llike the part between Aston Road and Chester Street as it was the only straight stretch - that I can remember - and I think only double digit house nos. and not the house Les was looking for (134). Mike can maybe prove...

Re: Aston and lozells pic reposted... Hi Big Gee, It was actuallly Ken Williams. I used to see him training sometimes when our class went there from St. Mary's. Little did I know then that some 15-20 years later I would marry his niece Barbara. Ken is alive and well and still swimming in his...

    Fairlanes bowling alley.

Belated Happy New Year to everybody. I used to bowl at Wylde Green in The Morris Commercial League one night per week and at Acocks Green when they closed Wylde Green. I also used to play at Villa Park on a Sunday morning with a team of 3 other mates. We called ourselves The Triffids. Happy Days.

    Bracebridge Street

Thanks from me too Mike. You are "spot on" as now I see it was the last 'entry' between nos. 26 & 28 that were back to back (1/28 & 2/26) with other houses at the top of the yard. My maternal grandparents lived in one of them (no.3/26), George and Alice Bunford. No chance of finding no. 26 Lyn...

    Various street pics

Hi Lyn, Thanks for posting the old photos especially #1 and #6 (definitely my neck of the woods). I didn't recognise where the shops in #1 were at first, then I recognised the little bit of the last building on the right which is Lloyds Bank on the corner of Aston Road and Aston Brook Street...

    Morris Commercial Vehicles

Hi Carol, Your dad's name does ring a distant bell. Do you have any photos of him circa 1971 when I too went off to Longbridge (Flight Shed).

    Morris Commercial Vehicles

Hi Rover, Please learn how to upload pictures or send via email please. I would love to see them especially the one with Pony Pritchard on. He was a nutcase with a heart of gold and he used to tenpin bowl with us at Wylde Green and later at Acocks Green. A lot of people went to work at Drews...

The Alliance Assurance building picture brings back memories for Barbara. She worked there for a while in the early 60's.

    Aston Road

Thanks for the photo Lyn. Rippingills factory on the left and Albion Pub on the right. Maybe the "poor misguided people" who identified your photo "incorrrectly" but unintentionally, can see that the buildings and The Albion pub are not the ones featured in that first photo? Come on guys, don't...

    Aston Road

Hi All, Just to let you know that I'm putting a post together to prove I'm right about Lyn's photo (that will of course mean you must be wrong) but I can't say when I will be in a position to post it. In the meantime just practice writing your apologies!!!
