    There has been that threat for years. I've been going to Costers for over 30 years and every so often there'd be the 'well, it's all going to be redeveloped in 2 years time' rumour & nothing has come of it.......yet! :joy:

    It's the fact that is the oldest in the world that gives me some hope that it can be preserved in some way - if not on site then lifted & reconstructed elsewhere. They have managed to preserve Roman ruins under huge skyscrapers in London, so it can be done if they put their mind to it.

    The BBC article (that has been linked to in post 188 does say - Further excavations are due to take place later this month, with experts looking to record the "historical significance" of the remains and determine whether they can be preserved in their current location. So maybe there is hope...

    Has there been any update from the Council on this building? I would have thought now would be an ideal time to move it back to Digbeth with all the regeneration that's going on in that area.

    Can you still get into the walled garden? I grew up in the area & we used this park a lot (the hilly layout was great for sledging!). You could get into the walled garden by walking through what became a little nature reserve. The garden itself was all overgrown & shrubby, but the walls were...
