    Milk

And on a similar note, did anyone else have tinned fruit - peaches, mandarin orange segments and fruit salad with Carnation milk on it? I can't decide whether or not I used to like it.....usually had it on Sunday afternoons. And tinned salmon sandwiches - posh, eh? My Mom used to work for a...

    Milk

Only ever had pasteurised when at school.....I suppose we had stera because, as has already been mentioned by onceabrummie, we had no fridge and it lasted longer in warm weather.

    Computer help

Easy way of doing this....select the Youtube content you want to download and click on it to start it playing. In the address bar you will see something like "www.youtube.com/watch....." Now, just insert "ss" before the "youtube.com" so it becomes "www.ssyoutube.com/watch....." and hit return...

    Lickey Hills

It would be an interesting project, though.....just think, an extension from the tram lines in Stephenson Street up Navigation Street and hence to the Bristol Road? Not unthinkable (especially with this 20mph speed limit that seems to be spreading like an insidious disease.....) Who would...

    Canals of Birmingham

Yes, that's dear old Gas Street - but are you sure about the year - I can't remember when they built the new brick footbridge onto Worcester Bar - do you remember the old swivelling plank bridge? That was definitely still there in 1985. But, nonetheless, a great photo - but look at the state of...

    Yardley Wood

Hi Janice - that looks as if it's the one - I think looking from my other maps, "Warstock" seems to be nucleated around the Prince of Wales lane area where the Warstock pub used to be (oh happy days!). Is there any chance of putting a bit more of that map on - an extended view from about...

    Yardley Wood

Got an idea that this might be Prince of Wales Lane, opposite where the allotments used to be....in fact, the Warstock Post Office that I remember was next to a shop called "Morgans" on the left hand side towards the top of P.o.W Lane as you went toward the P.o.W pub at the top. I seem to...

    Yardley Wood

If you look at the sign closely, it says "Warstock Post Office"....I come from Warstock but I can't think where it could be...or have been! I'll have a look at my old maps in a bit.

    Jubbly - Frozen Drink

And I seem to remember buying milk in something similar? Or is it a figment of my imagination?

    Canals of Birmingham

Hi Maypolebaz, the pub was the Horseshoe - it marked the beginning of the towpath walk to the Happy Valley which has been discussed on this forum at some length....just past the pub is the little canal arm which provided wharfage facilities and runs under the towpath. Do you remember the...

    Canals of Birmingham

Hi oldMohawk & Morturn..... You win the prize! ☆☆☆☆☆ Location exactly right - if you look at my original picture very closely, you can just about see the air-raid shelter near the junction of Stanbury Road - long since gone. The house that was circled by oldMohawk is at the bottom of Ibberton...

    Canals of Birmingham

And getting back to Brum, can anyone identify where this is and what canal we are looking at? PS - the lady is my Mom - I think the photo was taken in the early 1950's - before I was even thought of!

Hi Lady P.....From London's Lost Rivers... "The Cumberland Market Branch of the Regent’s Canal known as The Cumberland Arm was a half mile branch of the Regents Canal from a junction at Regents Park running parallel with Albany Street behind Regents Park Barracks and finishing in its basin at a...

    Beat Girl - Real Rock'n'roll

After watching the film on Talking Pictures, I bought the DVD/Blu Ray BFI version. I thought it was a very interesting film that was very near the knuckle in places - especially the striptease scenes (that immediately earned it an "X" Certificate over here and got it banned in France). It is...
