Just spotted the small no9 in the next column.

Looking closely at the census it says he was living at number 75? He was in fact at number 9.

Hi Pedrocut, yes I have more info. Thomas was born 1810 and died 1874 where he died in Whithead rd Aston. He was married to Ann Yardley and had sons Thomas Frederick and Albert+ more…. He and his family are buried at St. Mary’s Handsworth.

Hi all, I am researching Thomas Derrington who lived at no. 9 Whitehead Road in 1870's. I'm hoping to find a photograph of the property which I think has now been pulled down. Also any photographs of Thomas Derrington & his wife Ann Yardley 1860's/70's

Hi gr1226. Unfortunately I don't remember him as such as I was a school leaver and joined Barlows as a Typewriter mechanic but do remember Frank and Ron Barlow well.

This building was pulled down and the church has combined into Beacon Church at the Collingwood Drive terminus.

It makes me sad reading about my grandfather’s family and the picture which is emerging is that of a desperate family. Having quite a few addresses and even the workhouse in 1864. The two sons William and Samuel having to steal maybe just to have something to eat. It was an all too common sight...
