Thank you all for your comments. Chris the Powernet tour of The Southland, New Zeeland is on at this moment and the second stage, Invercargill to Bluff Hill, was won by a member, Jack Bauer, of my Ghent, Belgium, based cycle club called Kingsnorth International Wheelers. Graham.

I don't know if any of you watched the latest round of the UCI Track Cycling World Cup held at Manchester and broadcast on BBC TV this past weekend? https://new.britishcycling.org.uk/track/article/tra20091030-Track-Cycling-World-Cup---Manchester-0 I have been informed that British Cycling used...

The Bombing Of Coventry BBC 2

My mother (1910-1977) lost her dad and her husband in two world wars, hated Churchill calling him a "war monger".

The Bombing Of Coventry BBC 2

I watched it tonight on BBC 2 and I wept. I've also recorded it but I don't think that I'll have to heart to look again.

    Ugh.

When it comes to ground coffee here in Belgium we are really spoilt for choice and this summer I tasted my best cup of tea ever packaged by a German company called 'Teekanne'. It was loose tea not the 'bags' or fruit tea in this 'funny' clip. YouTube - Teekanne Werbespot

Darr, thanks to immigrants like your dad I can get the real McCoy. When I'm in Ghent (Belgium) I go to a Turkish shop and buy a 1/2 kilo (yes 500 gram) of Ceylon yaprak çayi (pure Ceylon tea) and that for only £2. 50!!! Makes dozens of pots Brummie brew.

Only the other day I 'blanched' the green leaves from a cauliflower and put them in the freezer, I use them in all sorts of dishes, bubble and squeak, oriental wok fries ETC.

Patty most of us have the same 'problem' and it has been discussed before but I for one won't change my settings as this is the only site I visit that does this. I think that it happened when 'Postie' added the banner and I'm just going to sit and wait until Jim can get it sorted for us. Graham.

Fred, the wheel is so close to the down tube to shorten the wheel base, that with the straight forks make it a dream bike to handle on mountain descents. Also keeping everything as short as pos makes the frame stiffer so that little power is lost through the all aluminium frame.

Thanks Chris, I don't quite understand it myself why so much is happening now after all these years. I can only think that after pumping all those millions into trying to get a road race medal they have woken up to just what I did on a shoestring. Thanks Fred, I'm pleased you like the horses...

    What was the best Generation

Rowan hit the nail on the head when he said that everyone will think of their generation as being the best, but there can be no denial that the 50s and 60s, in the western world, will go down in history as being something really special. Having said that we must not forget what an amazing...

I had the press over on Thursday and here's one of the photos that Chris made; I'm sure you'll recognize my friends in the background? I'm the one on the left Next month British Cycling are sending a journalist over to ask me how I did it (world champ) as they have spent millions of pounds of...
