    Castle Bromwich Hall

As far as I know queen Victoria never visited the Hall, queen Mary however, was a regular visitor spending long holidays there, in fact, the nearby post office was the first to get a telephone exchange and the Hall the first telephone in the area because of this.

    Bingley Hall

The Staffs 'New Bingley Hall' was marketed as a replacement venue for the old Bingley Hall on Broad Street. This is why I mentioned the connection. As far as I know it was a completely new build and there was no building on the site before it. Its also known as the 'County Showground' a name...

The pub next to Sam Wellers was also the Kaliedescope at one point, used to have live bands on at weekends.

    Key Hill Cemetery

I gather that there was no damp proofing in the chapel, I guess they thought that as it stood in a sand quarry it wouldn't need any!!

    Give us yer donny

They say it in the Black Country too, I think it comes from Ireland where a 'donnybrook' is a rowdy fist fight.

    Edwards No. 8

Hadn't heard about it being a sugar warehouse!! An old flame of mine's father used to work there when it was the Skin Hospital in the late 50's early 60's. I always though Rebeccas was over the road from Eddies but it was a long time and many drinks ago.......

Coat of arms BMAG, wot no hammer ?

Its actually called an 'achievement' of arms and the supporters technically can be either side. In a written description (called a blazon) it would just state that the supporters were; 1 lady artist and a smith with apron, coloured 'proper' without stating which side they were standing, unless...

    Edwards No. 8

The front of Edwards No 8 has been completely re-modelled, it bears no relation to the original building, it now has big picture windows where the entrance and the staircases were. Technically speaking it can still be used as a nightclub as the planning permission is still active, but I doubt...
