    re original email. I still have not seen any planning application however this morning contractors are stripping out the building and I've been told apartments are to be built inside. it is grade 2 listed which would include interior. any idea what's going on?     Had a quick look inside today as what little is left is being stripped out before conversion to apartments apparently. The Council have not been able to locate any planning application and I understand it is grade ll listed so what's going on???

    May just have been a beer house but definately appeared in a photo I saw in one of the Birmingham books, I think one of the Hockley ones however my copy is elsewhere at the moment. Gary the current cafe owner also recalls the photo.

    Can anyone help with the name/details/pics of a former pub which was in the premises that are now the Hylton Cafe in the Jewellery Quarter? I belive the pub closed in the late 50s/early 60s but could be wrong. Many thanks

    scary name and a scary looking pub but how i wish I could have seen it. Living literally just up the road from the likely site I also wished i had been living around here when the Gothic was open. would love any detail on that pub plus any pictures people may have. Cheers

    any views as to why the pub was called the vampire though, always struck me as an odd name for a pub but also a fascinating one. Cheers
