It really is a fantastic carnival, difficult to describe, if you go on the Burnham on Sea website theres quite a bit about it, its on Nov.10 in Burnham starts at 7 30, lasts over 2 hours and it is less crowded here than Weston, but still busy. hope to be going again this year, never...

    The Burnham on Sea carnival is November 10th. this year, its the same carnival as at Weston of course, they do different towns on different evenings, starting in Bridgewater, well worth a visit, theres over 100 floats.

    Hi. Mav. I remember a few of those names, but not as many as you, but one you mention "sexy" Bagnell seems to ring a bell, did he usually wear his uniform hat bent up in the middle, or am I thinking of someone else?.

    This is a fantastic carnival, we have the same one at Burnham usually a few days before the Weston one, it takes over two hours to pass by,, some of the floats are 100 foot long with a generator on the back, well worth seeing.

    In the early 1950s my uncle drove a Guy Vixen furniture van for the CO-OP all over the country from this building, in those days it was called Belmont Row as PMC 1947 says, the photo is of a Lesney model of a similar van.

    The Waverley is still steaming back and forth to Ilfracombe, Lundy island, Clevedon, and Penarth, and occasionaly Bridgewater depending on the tide, we see it passing Burnham about twice a year.

I was in Weston on Sunday afternoon and as you say I havent seen it as busy for a long while, the steam fair has been there all of August and we walked all through it, nice to see a really old fashioned fair, just like when I was a kid, it came from Maidenhead, and all the old wagons...

    Thanks Alf and Dave, very good link that Alf, we have a webcam similar on the front at Burnham,the missus and myself like to walk up the front most days there about the same time,and my daughter in Worcester looks out for us on the webcam if she has the time.
