    Gosta green

Here's another view of the Gaiety later know as the ABC Coleshill Street, on the corner of Gem Street. It's showing its last -or almost last- ever film presentation "The Good Guys and the Bad Guys". The release date according to my day-by-day film diary in 1969 is 23 November 1969...

    Old street pics..

I'm not sure the youngsters of today WILL be that shocked, Paul. They will need a benchmark of quality and what we have new, now, isn't. How quickly new things get derelict nowadays. The 70s stuff coming down now should have lasted a hundred years if any good!

    Old street pics..

Think the photo would have been 1966 Viv. The lettering on the Odeon next door suggests the beginning of the name of the film "Georgy Girl" of that year. No other film beginning with "GE" fits into films released on the Rank circuit when the cinem was a large, one-theatre cinema. What a hideous...

    Bull Ring 1930s - 1950s

Think the name is WoodHOUSE, Viv. The famous High Street furniture store that lasted in many town centres until the 1970s. https://www.mirrorpix.com/webgate/preview.php?UURL=dc5de0e2293e257d6cef3994491c0755&IMGID=00467553 Here's the place close-up from the same album. Bull Ring 1930s - 1950s

The "Saigon Wall" (or 'Sagion' wall) appears clearly in this IWM picture of war-time Bull Ring, after the Blitz damage referred to by Rupert had been cleared. It's a 'no display' at this period of time https://www.iwm.org.uk/collections/item/object/205196881 To get Oswald Bailey's shop AND the...

Birmingham Nightclubs of the Past - Memories

The Bristol venue was called "New Bristol Centre", Phil. Here's the video of it. At the bottom of that video front page there's each frame of the video separately photographed https://www.britishpathe.com/video/cinema-of-tomorrow-today/query/ABC+Bristol

    History In Schools

I hope something worthwhile comes out of it too Viv. Unfortunately year after year history has never been properly respected. There are so many repeat wars and anger and if only people had sat down and worked out what was right. But its so difficult to get people to listen nowadays. Politicians...

The shock of seeing two mini cars mating in a public street. Even the mature gent is averting his gaze in embarrassment!

I think you're right Mohawk. The traffic policeman does seem to have his right hand in just the place to receive a discreet 'favour' from the Fiat driver passing behind. Allegedly:emmersed:

Mohawk-I hear you. The Ford Anglia in the centre looks like a couple of detectives on a case-but anything on the way will do for a caseload! The lady in the A40 looking in the mirror-maybe she thinks her hairdo won't survive the ordeal to Kingstanding!

Perhaps the driver of the car is in pursuit by the police and is trying to land on the black stripes amongst the dark suited pedestrians to avoid detection....
