Just spotted the tower on the second photo in post 20. Was this on the Exchange Building or is it part of the hotel? It appears to have a viewing platform but I'm not sure I'd venture on to it.

I wondered if anyone has any information on the precautions taken on the railways during wartime. I know that tarpaulins were often draped over the cab so that the fire couldn't be spotted but so far that's about all. Any help/links would be greatly appreciated.

Lovely pictures Lyn. Those huge balloons always make me laugh. I had to drive up to Chester with one in the back of my little car. I thought I'd trapped it in a black bin bag but it escaped and floated in the way of my mirror! Time goes so quickly and we don't get to see our little ones enough.

We sat in a similar place when we visited the pool last year. Must look out the photo and see if it was the same bench!
